More expensive, high-end cameras usually more features than cheaper models. But not all of the features are always helpful, in some instances they may simply be unnecessary and a waste of the extra money spent. This list looks at several features of higher-end cameras and why they are useful in certain scenarios.
Saving Video and Images
The ability to save video and pictures externally can be a useful feature to have; it certainly comes in helpful for law enforcement purposes. If a crime is caught on camera, the ability to play back video at high speed will help you find the event, and slow motion will help you determine exactly what happened.
External Recording
Higher-end models come with a separate DVR to record video. This helps if a great deal if your cameras running all the time.
Night Vision
Night vision comes at a high priority as crimes have a tendency to occur after dark. However, if a area is already well lit, the night vision may not be needed.

Home security systems are usually made up of parts that are suited for the specific room or outside area they are designed to monitor. However, there are some key components that all security systems make use of.
Motion Detectors
Motion detectors are a key part of almost all home security systems. Typically positioned in corners and movement choke points, they react when any motion is detected in the room. Depending on the system, you may be able to watch the video in real-time from your phone or other Internet connected device.
Main Panel with Keypad
Almost all home security systems make use of a main panel of some kind. The main panel and keypad are the brains of a home security system. The keypad is used to activate and deactivate the system. With a more advanced system, you may be able to use it to do things like program alarm settings.

A good way to make the most of a home security system is to understand how it works. A security system is composed of several parts, which work in unison to provide surveillance around the home.
Main Panel and Keypad
The main panel and keypad contain the main circuitry which allows the system to function. The keypad is used to activate and deactivate the system, and on some models gives the user the option to do things like program alarm settings.
Sensors and Motion Detectors
A home security system includes window and door sensors that detect when the window or door is opened. The number of sensors used will be dependent on the number of windows and doors in the home that requires surveillance.
Motion detectors are positioned in corners detect any motion in a room. Motion detectors can also function directly with a security camera. Which will start recording when they sense movement.

There has been a bit of an influx of mobile security applications, but some people argue that the military is asking for trouble, especially considering the threat from cyber attacks.
Mobile security applications are designed to give the soldiers on the ground more situation awareness, allowing them to operate more efficiently, however cyber stacks can cost soldiers their lives, so is it really worth the risk?
Security breaches happen, but the fact is modern-day soldiers are trained to perform with and without technology, and no soldier will ever need to rely upon a mobile device. There’s no guarantee that applications can be 100% secure, but if they regularly help the military perform well, then surely there’s no reason why they can’t be used going forward in the future.

There are various types of motion detectors, and not all of them are as effective as others at securing your home. Different types have been designed for different purposes, and although all of them will be effective, some will be more likely to produce false positives, which is a problem for alarm systems.
One of the most popular types of motion detectors are infra-red light sensors. Infra-red is a light which is invisible to human eyes, so it should catch people off guard, so long as they don’t have any infra-red sensing equipment themselves. They work by streaming a line of infra-red light between two points, creating a feedback loop. If anything enters the space between the two points, then the loop is broken, and the alarm is then triggered. This is hardly a fool-proof system, but it is unlikely to be alerted by anything you don’t want to be alerted by.
Alternatively you have sensors which monitor their immediate acoustic fields for any changes. These can produce false-positives with greater frequency, but provided the circumstances are well matched to their function then you will have something which works amazingly well.

Breaking down a door is actually easier than you might expect, so ensuring that the door doesn’t provide easy unwanted entry is important, whether that is for your business or for your home. A secure door improves upon a typical door in a number of ways: Its locking mechanism will be more advanced, perhaps even with an extra mechanism involved, which only activates when somebody tries to gain entry without a key – all of this can be of great benefit to you. It will also be heavier, and made of stronger materials, which can help to ensure that somebody can’t just break the door down. The only down-side, if you want to consider it a downside, is that the door will be heavier than a less secure alternative. This can be a problem for retail businesses, as they will have people walking in and out of the building, having to open a heavy door every time.
