Maritime surveillance is the maintenance of security in the sea by conducting patrols, detecting the presence of enemies and locating them. The surveillance is done by the navy forces and the air-force, the navy use ships and submarines to patrol the sea whereas the air-force use the aircraft to patrol the sea. The maintenance of the sea was deemed importance internationally after the terrorist attack of the Times tower by terrorists and the rise in pirate attacks in the sea who target the trade goods’ ships. They attack the ship, steal the goods and torture the ships’ crew to death.
The patrols are conducted in the sea and it is intense at the hotspots or terror attack. The hotspots are normally along the trade routes as the ships import or export goods to or from the country. The other places of interest are, along the coastlines of the sea, the areas of economic activities near the sea such as; hotels, tourists’ destinations, fishing ships and shopping centers. The extend the patrol to those ares because the enemies may hide in those areas as well when they escape from the sea. They should also have tight security around their camps and vessels which are other targets of attack. (more…)
