CCTV is not 100% necessary for small business, it is quite expensive to set up and run. However, there are many reasons why it is necessary. I’m going to tell you some of these to you today.
Crime Prevention

Many restaurants in the UK have CCTV cameras installed. It gives a sense of security for guests because it’s a means of deterring crimes. That said, there are so many reasons why having security cameras in restaurants makes perfect sense.
A good quality CCTV system with high-resolution cameras pays for itself during a relatively short space of your time, because it will highlight areas where you’re losing money for a spread or reasons like employee errors, or possible deliberate theft. Another area is staffing, as perhaps some might not be quite as conscientious and hard-working as others. This is true of any workplace, but with CCTV cameras, you have the proof there, while being able to see how each team member manages time and also see who is most productive.
CCTV camera systems are often tailor-made for your restaurants, coffee shops or cafes. If you are a restaurant owner, try to find one that’s professionally designed, and of course installed to suit all of your licensing requirements.

A roller shutter is a door type of window shutter that consists mainly of horizontal slats that have been hinged together. Rolling the slats in an upward or downward movement is how they are operated. Raising the door or rolling the slats upwards opens the door and it is closed by lowering it. They can be used for any logistical needs and in any sector. These doors, mainly used in garages, warehouses, and vans have great advantages listed below:
• In areas that have extreme weather conditions, the roller shutter provides thermal insulation and resistance against the wind. It also provides protection against theft and fire. If used in front of windows it protects them from strong winds and vandalism.
• These types of doors have opening and closing systems that are noiseless. This is very much unlike other types of doors that make a lot of noise when in use.
• Roller doors do not require a lot of maintenance or extraordinary maintenance. This is because they are not that complicated to use and are very easy to figure out.
• They are very easy to install. One only needs to take the correct measurement for the fittings, and the installation becomes pretty straightforward.
• They have a very simple design that fits into many types of settings. They can be used in small areas like windows or large areas like industrial or garage doors.
• Unlike most traditional doors, the roller shutter doors have no ceiling anchor.
• The closing and opening are motorized in large doors. In some, a frequency converter is installed to adjust speeds used to open the doors and also to slow down their closing. The risk of impact is then greatly reduced.
• They have a long service life. They are designed to withstand regular or daily use and therefore save you money as they don’t need replacing within short periods of time.
• They are self-repairing and are very high speed. This means that they have very fast opening operations.
Adaptability is one of the strengths of roller shutter doors. They are highly durable and reliable, ensuring maximum safety. They can operate in any environment be it storage, warehouses, construction plants or showrooms. They require minimal maintenance even with continuous operation. They can be used in the separation of different work areas. Local governments in some parts of the world have subsidized roller shutters. One should ensure to get doors that are high-quality steel and aluminum for longer durability.

How many times have you watched Crimewatch only to be asked to help identify an individual on the screen? Quite often they are completely pixelated and you really don’t have any chance of identifying them at all. That said, the CCTV systems we use at home are much clearer, so why is it such a problem with public CCTV? Well, it’s mainly because of costs. It will take time for the government to improve CCTV cameras across the UK, but with many shops, homes and vehicles now fitted with cameras, it’s often quite easy for the police to find some footage when they need to investigate a crime. We do hope with all of the latest technology available today that the government will start using it, but it will take time, and we’d rather it be a slow process that burning taxpayers money all at once.

As difficult as it can be to prevent a random burglar from entering your property and stealing your valuables, it can be even more difficult to keep someone you know outside of your home, especially if they have a key! CCTV footage will always come in handy, but if you know someone who has a key to your home and you do not fully trust them, you have to ask for the key back, or better yet, change the locks. You will, of course, need a professional locksmith to do this for you, but for the relatively small price you pay for the new lock and labour, it’s a job worth doing. (more…)

For a burglar to break into a home through a security double glazing window, they will have to break the glass. This is the last thing that they are going to want to do when trying to quietly break into a home. If they do break the glass, it will alert those in the home, or anyone in the nearby neighbourhood, bringing a lot of attention to the area of the crime.
Another deterrent that secure double glazing windows bring is the increased chance of injury. Not only this but breaking secure windows will scatter broken glass at the scene, which can capture small pieces of hair and blood. This is extremely useful for a forensic investigation in positively identifying the intruder.
Security double glazing is also generally more durable, and while it is still a glass window, it’s much stronger than a single glazing window. The force of a blunt object on the first pane of glass is unlikely to break the second, causing the burglar to have to hit it multiple times to break it.

More Is Better
Wireless security cameras are now relatively affordable for the average user, so there’s no reason why a security system should have more than one. Multiple inexpensive cameras will provide greater visual coverage than a single expensive camera. Also remember that a multiple camera setup will work best with the cameras zoomed in, as opposed to a zoomed out image which can tend to pixelate easily upon viewing.
Position Well
Much like taking a photo, positioning a camera at an angle that captures an area accurately will produce a better images. Try not to point the camera at the ground and consider what might obstruct the viewing angle. It’s also important to angle the cameras away from areas that emit a lot of light, as it will cause the images to get washed out. Finally make sure cameras are located in an area that has access to a reliable WiFi signal.

When putting together a home security system, especially for the first time, there are certain pieces of equipment that are essential. It’s true that all security systems are different, and it may be the case that what works on one system might not be useful on another. But there are a few important tools that most security systems have in common.
Almost all home security systems make use of a main panel of some kind. The main panel and keypad are the brains of a home security system. The keypad is used to activate and deactivate the system. With a more advanced system, you may be able to use it to do things like program alarm settings.
Another important piece of equipment that security systems use are window and door sensors that react when they opened. How many sensors you buy depends on the number of windows and doors in your home, as well as your personal preference.

When wiring a home security system there are a variety of different wiring types that can be taken advantages off. Using these in the right way not only improves the ease of installation but can also offer a range of other benefits.
Using Category 5 Wiring
Category 5 is a high-quality wiring solution that is used for voice and data transmission. It comes in twisted pairs which use two solid-core insulated wires twisted together to reduce interference. Cat-1 telephone wire is for POTS only and carries signals at less than 4 megabits per second. Cat-5 wire carries data at 100 megabits per second. Cat-5e (enhanced) carries data at 350 megabits.
Home-run Wiring and Daisy-chain Wiring
Home-run wiring solutions make use of a centrally located outlet box. This allows all connections to be managed from this point, in a “star” pattern. A daisy-chain wiring pattern runs a single wire or cable from the distribution panel to a series of outlets, like traditional plumbing or electrical service. Modern whole-house installations tend to be of the home-run type.

Home security systems are usually made up of parts that are suited for the specific room or outside area they are designed to monitor. However, there are some key components that all security systems make use of.
Motion Detectors
Motion detectors are a key part of almost all home security systems. Typically positioned in corners and movement choke points, they react when any motion is detected in the room. Depending on the system, you may be able to watch the video in real-time from your phone or other Internet connected device.
Main Panel with Keypad
Almost all home security systems make use of a main panel of some kind. The main panel and keypad are the brains of a home security system. The keypad is used to activate and deactivate the system. With a more advanced system, you may be able to use it to do things like program alarm settings.
